Series Synopsis

Secrets of Sulphur Springs is a live-action, time-travel mystery series for kids ages 6-11 and their families. Set in the fictional Louisiana town of Sulphur Springs, the series follows adventurous 12-year-old Griffin Campbell and his bright-eyed, thrill-seeking friend Harper as they come across a secret portal that allows them to travel back in time and uncover clues related to an unsolved town mystery. Griffin’s father, Ben Campbell, moves the family from Chicago to Sulphur Springs to take ownership of The Tremont Hotel, an abandoned property that has been vacant for decades. Griffin learns that the hotel he just moved into is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a girl named Savannah who, without a trace, disappeared decades ago. He becomes really good friends with Harper, a girl he meets at school and together they sneakily explore The Tremont and soon stumble upon a secret portal that transports them back in time to a previous era. They are both committed to solving the mystery of how she went missing, Griffin and Harper embark on a time-travel adventure that puts them face-to-face with a sequence of thrilling escapades and run-ins with younger versions of people they have come to know in the present day.

Beignet Recipe by "Cafe Du Monde"

I have always wanted to try beignets but have never had the opportunity until this week thanks to Disney Channel PR and Kristin Cruz who sent us a Beignet Mix from Cafe Du Monde. I've had beignets before so I know how they are supposed to taste that's all I was going based off of what I had experienced in the past. The instructions were so simple and all you need is water to make it work. These were so fun to make and it only took 15 minutes. They came out so good and my boys, who have also had beignets before could not wait to get their hands on them.

Ingredients:

  • Cafe Du Monde Mix

  • Water

  • Oil

  • flour

Instructions

In a bowl, combine two cups of beignet mix with seven ounces of water. Stir with spoon until blended. You may have to add a little more or a little less water to achieve a good beignet mix dough. The dough should be relatively soft, like drop biscuit dough. It should not be stiff like pie dough. Do not overmix the dough. You will have tough beignets if you overmix the dough.

Roll to 1/8" thickness on flared surface, using flour on dough. Cut into 2 1/4" squares or you can use your Mickey Mouse cookie cutters.

Fry in an inch or two of oil at 370 degrees Fahrenheit basting continually on each side until puffy and light golden. You can use any vegetable oil you prefer, I went with avocado oil. Drain well. Electric Skillet works best as stated on the box but I used my skillet and they came out looking amazing and cooked evenly too.

Beignets are at their best when served hot, while they are draining, sprinkle them with powder sugar, generously! also, we love our beignets with chocolate sauce, we improvised and used Hershey's syrup and it was just as amazing.

If you decided to give this mix a try, tag me so I can see your results. Buy the mix here.
